SAMI NATIONAL DAY 2020

Join the SCC for a celebration of this Arctic Indigenous People Holiday. Writer and translator Barbara Sjoholm will read and discuss her book By the Fire: Sámi Folktales and Legends and discuss the Sámi writing now available in the Scandinavian languages and these translations from Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish into English. She will also discuss the importance that translations of Sámi storytelling have for Sámi and Sámi-American identity.
